Welcoming Marianne Richardson

Meet Bruceville Point’s new Executive Director

We are thrilled to welcome Marianne Richardson to Bruceville Point! Marianne is our new Executive Director, taking the reins from Eric Hostetter.

“I am excited to embrace and experience the Tenfold culture—the focus on community, connection, and engagement,” Marianne said.

Marianne brings a wealth of experience to her role. For more than fifteen years, she has guided senior living communities in a leadership role. Her emphasis has been on mentoring team members to ensure everyone is growing, learning, supported, and satisfied in their roles.

She also knows how to bring people together, creating communities where everyone can thrive. “Laughter breaks down walls. I love being a goofball whenever I can,” Marianne said of her favorite way to create connection. “I take the opportunity to laugh at myself, and thereby give others the permission to laugh, too.”

It was a happy accident that Marianne found herself in senior living. After some time in college, she moved to Nevada where she found a job as the administrative assistant for a new retirement community. Because the community was still in the process of being built, Marianne was the first employee and had the chance to wear many hats and learn, literally, from the ground up.

Her experiences so far have taught Marianne to appreciate the vulnerability and humility of humans. “Nobody is perfect. We’re all going to make mistakes, and what is most important is how we manage and work through to resolve them,“ Marianne reflected. “Embracing our humanity, our imperfections, and allowing them to exist and inform our lives is important. By doing so, we are building trust, which is critical.”

Being an ED is a multifaceted role, with many responsibilities. Marianne sees herself as being a coach, mentor, therapist, teacher, sometimes disappointed mom, and a favorite grandchild. “One hat I don’t wear is the chef’s hat—not one of my strengths!” Marianne laughed, “But I am happy to help with food quality assurance!”

When Marianne isn’t laughing, coaching, or testing food at Bruceville Point, you might find her camping along the coast, engaged in a World War II novel, or soaking up time with her two almost-adult children.

Being around older adults reminds Marianne of the precious value of time with those you love. Her grandparents were an integral part of her life, and her relationship with them continues to inspire the work Marianne does.

“My grandma was my resident for about four years. I know what a good senior living experience can mean for a resident and their family on a personal level. Being able to create that for others is really important to me,” Marianne said.

You’ll be able to meet Marianne beginning December 18th. Follow the laughter you hear, and you’ll find Marianne, coffee in hand, wearing a holiday sweater designed to make you laugh.
