Tattoo parties in assisted living?!
In some care settings, the philosophy is one of “doing to.” Care providers might give medication or assist with dressing. At Bruceville Point, we think about this differently. Care partners respect residents by getting to know them through conversations and shared interests, such as doing puzzles together. The support they offer is an extension of their relationship—a being with residents.
One of our care partners, Allison, exemplifies this connection.
Recently, a resident commented on Allison’s tattoo. The resident mentioned, “Oh, I want a tattoo before I die.” Allison came in the next day with temporary tattoos that she shared with the care partners. Sporting their new tattoos, they all came to the resident’s apartment and tatted her, too!
At Bruceville Point, this tattoo party exemplifies the relationship our residents and care partners cherish. Together, we share laughter and tears. And we all know we are richer for the shared experience.
