Marianne Richardson, Executive Director
I stumbled into senior living, and once I was in, I was captivated! I just can’t imagine working in any other field.
I’ve had my RCFE certification since 2004. To further support my work in senior living, I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Management from Saint Mary’s College of California. My grandmother inspired me to finish my degree, emphasizing to me that once you have your education, no one can ever take it away. I’m so glad I listened to her and was able to graduate with her in the audience.
For more than 15 years, I’ve led senior living communities in various roles from Director of Training to Community Liaison to Vice President of Engagement. I’ve served as the Executive Director at 8 communities.
I see my role as building community through engagement, empathy, and humor. Everyone here is a member of our community, a participant in the lives of others. We are intentional in our responsibility to care for each other. At the same time, we are quick to laugh. Joy is foundational.
My grandparents were an integral part of my life. In fact, I moved to be closer to them and ended up living next door to them for many years! After I lost my grandfather, my grandmother moved to the community where I worked. I know what a good senior living experience can mean for a resident and for their family on a personal level. Being able to create that for others is my honor and passion.
“Embracing our humanity, our imperfections, and allowing them to exist and inform our lives is important. Nobody is perfect. When you talk with older adults, they are quick to recognize that mistakes are part of life. And mistakes can be an opportunity to build trust and grow, if we respond appropriately.”
