Holidays or festival days have existed for as long as humanity has been around. Pausing daily life to spend time with friends and family has nourished our connections and helped us recognize the value of each moment. Holidays are steeped in tradition, blending what happened last year or one hundred years ago with our present celebration.
At Bruceville Point, holidays are no small matter. Planning for this year’s Halloween festivities began in earnest in August. Our Events and Adventures team floated ideas and dreamed of big creations, like a Haunted Maze. Once a plan was in place, teams from throughout the community came together to build their ideas into reality. With everything in place, they invited the local community to help them celebrate.
Residents and local families alike enjoyed the haunted festivities. With costumed children trick or treating, residents recalled the joy of previous Halloweens in other homes, passing out candy to neighbors. With very little fright and lots of joy, the hallways rang with laughter.
No party is complete without food—and the Culinary and Dining Experience teams left nothing to be desired. I dare you not to drool!
Perhaps the biggest treat—or maybe trick—was the Haunted Maze that filled the Media Center. While the team offered two scare levels, the suspense kept everyone on their toes!
The following day, residents and team members were invited to an ofrenda altar to honor deceased family members in a Dia de los Muertos celebration.
